This review is from: Crystal Quest Chrome Handheld Shower Water Filter (Chrome) (Misc.) I grew up in New York and absolutely never gave a second thought to the quality of our water. My hair was always soft, manageable, and shiny. Then I moved to the midwest where I found the hardest water in the U.S. It clanks as it comes out of the tap. You have to use a chisel to remove the residue from your counters. It leaves my hair dirty-looking, stringy, dull, and flat. Water softeners don't do a thing to help. Even moving to a neighborhood with so-called "city water" is no improvement. I tried every type of shampoo and conditioner, tried rinsing my hair in rainwater I collected in a barrel (that worked a bit though it can be quite a shock in the winter), and concocted a vinegar rinse. Finally, I purchased the Crystal Quest with its super-duper filter. Not only is my hair soft and manageable again, but my skin feels much better, too. It was easy to install and works great. If you live in an area with hard water, treat yourself and get one of these handheld showers! I will say that after I contacted the seller via email, they did respond promptly and ship my item out (including a free water filter). Second issue, the bath ball filter's handle broke w/n the first use. Third issue, the shower filter was not even on for a week before the tubing w/n it burst. Another reviewer said it didn't work with his faucet, which is the same kind I have, but I took the chance and ordered it anyway. It works perfectly! Don't let the change in the product's number worry you! Both replacements have been the Moen 9601. The installation is easy breezy and they do last 6 months before the LED starts flashing almost to the day!! No leaks, drips or errors. I highly recommend this replacement filter for the Moen F87424. For that matter I highly recommend the Moen F87424 faucet. It is so nice to have no bulky filter on the faucet and have clean filtered water available right from the faucet. If they feel their water doesn't need filtration, then I should think they should simply not use a filter and not complain. Some of us, on the other hand, live in areas where the tap water tastes downright vile--this is certainly the case where I live. I used to buy bottled water for the sole purpose of making coffee. These filters, though, have saved me time and money--yes, they really work! Since I bought the Mr Coffee coffee maker last year, I can use tap water and have coffee without the unpleasant taste of chlorine. This was certainly not the case before. As to the price, I've paid just as much for two filters (as opposed to six) in stores, and what Amazon charges is much more reasonable than any other price I've seen for this item on line. These little filters do a great job of improving the taste of regular tap water. Sure, they are pricey, but I've found I can go for a few months using just one rather than change it out every month as Mr. Coffee recommends. There are alternatives to them as well, like using pref-iltered water or bottled water, but costs doing it that way can add up as well. Overall, a decent product if you can stomach the price. BTW, as of writing this, the 2-packs are actually cheaper to purchase than the 6pk (going by unit cost). But for some reason the shipping is a $1 more for the 2-pack! Solution: Buy 3 2-pack refills in one order and you save yourself about $2 over the cost of buying just the one 6-pack. We have really poor tasting water and this filter makes a huge difference. They recommend you use it for 1 month, but we only change it once every three months.
